Meta launched Muse Image AI for Instagram and WhatsApp, adding 30 new effects to Stories. One effect makes photos look like they were taken with a disposable camera, and the platform offers a preview pane in the image editor.

All public Instagram accounts are automatically enrolled in Muse Image. A tagged username lets Meta AI remix a user’s photos without notification, sparking outrage on Reddit and other forums. The feature is enabled by default in France, raising concerns under EU data‑protection rules.

Users can stop the remixing by opening the Instagram app, tapping the profile icon, uloj selecting the hamburger menu, and scrolling to Sharing and reuse. The toggle *Allow people to create with and reuse your content* turns off for posts and reels. Turning it off does not remove already‑generated images.

The rollout underscores a growing trend of AI‑powered content creation and highlights tensions between user privacy and platform innovation. Consumers must_minutes adjust settings to protect their likenesses, while Meta faces scrutiny over automatic opt‑in practices.
