Meta has acquired Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI), a startup developing artificial intelligence for robots, as part of its push into humanoid machines. ARI specializes in addressing "critical challenges" in high-value labor markets and will join Meta's Superintelligence Labs. The acquisition strengthens Meta's internal robotics development efforts.

ARI co-founder Xiaolong Wang stated the company aims to "train a truly general-purpose physical agent," believing scaling will come from "learning directly from human experience." Wang emphasized Meta has access to the key components needed for this vision. The ARI team brings deep expertise in designing models for robot control and self-learning.

Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth revealed the company plans to create licensable software similar to Android, starting with dexterous hand technology. The robotics race intensifies as Amazon acquired Fauna Robotics and Tesla converted its Fremont factory for Optimus production, indicating a growing industry focus on humanoid automation.
