At CES 2026, optical technology company Lumus demonstrated a massive leap forward for smartglasses displays, unveiling waveguides with an unprecedented 70-degree field of view (FOV). This significantly surpasses the 20-degree FOV standard set by devices like the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses. The new Z-30 model offers a 30-degree FOV while being 30% lighter and 40% thinner than previous generations, addressing critical power and weight constraints.

The 70-degree prototype provided a near-full-lens display experience, delivering exceptional brightness and sharpness. Lumus’ geometric reflective technology also allows for pairing with transition lenses, a major advantage over competitors. With manufacturing partners like Quanta and SCHOTT ramping up production, these components are poised to drive the next generation of immersive AR wearables.
