Lumix at 25: Panasonic's Premium L10 Compact Camera Arrives

Panasonic celebrates 25 years of its Lumix brand with the release of the L10, a premium compact camera packing serious specs into a portable form factor. The device features a 20.4-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor paired with a fixed Leica DC Vario-Summilux 24-75mm f/1.7-2.8 motorized zoom lens, all wrapped in a saffiano leather-textured finish with a magnesium alloy body weighing just 1.12 pounds.

The camera borrows an innovative multi-aspect ratio switch from Fujifilm's GFX100RF, allowing photographers to toggle between 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 and 1:1 formats without significant resolution loss thanks to a 26.5 MP total sensor (the same as the Lumix GH7). A 779-point hybrid phase-detect autofocus system replaces older contrast-detect methods, with subject recognition supporting eyes, faces, bodies, animals, vehicles and dynamic scenes.

Video capabilities stand out as some of the best in a Panasonic compact, offering 5.6K at 60 fps or 4K at 120 fps with 4:2:2 10-bit capture and V-Log modes including a real-time LUT preview. The L10 arrives in June for $1,499 in black or silver, with a limited gold titanium edition priced at $1,599.
