Looking Glass Musubi: $149 Holographic Photo Frame

Looking Glass has unveiled the Musubi, a 7-inch holographic digital photo frame priced at just $149. The device uses Hololuminescent Display technology to show 3D holograms viewable without glasses or eye-tracking. Set to ship in June 2025, Musubi represents the company's most consumer-friendly offering yet, following years of developer-focused holographic displays.

Unlike previous models like the $300 Looking Glass Go from 2023, Musubi stores up to 1,000 images or 30-second video clips. The frame runs for three hours on a single charge or indefinitely when plugged in. Users must convert their media using Looking Glass' free desktop app before transferring files via USB-C, but the process appears straightforward for consumers.

Early Kickstarter backers can snag the Musubi for $99 during the first 24 hours of the campaign. While crowdfunding projects always carry risks, Looking Glass has a track record of delivering on its promises. The company's commitment to June shipping suggests confidence in production, though potential buyers should still approach with appropriate caution before backing.
