Logitech’s G512 X Keyboard Unveils Dual-Switch Tech for Unprecedented Customization

Logitech’s G512 X keyboard introduces groundbreaking dual-switch technology, letting users toggle between mechanical and analog inputs. Available in 75% and 98% layouts, the keyboard combines PBT keycaps with MX mechanical switches by default, but allows swapping keybinds like WASD for Gateron KS-20 magnetic analog switches. This hybrid design integrates 39 tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors on the left side, enabling rapid triggers, multipoint actuation, and second actuation pressure point (SAPP) rings for hyper-precise control. However, TMR functionality is limited to the left half, restricting extreme customization for unconventional keybinds.

With an 8K polling rate (0.125ms response time), the G512 X targets competitive gamers needing lightning-fast input. It also features dual rotary dials, a RGB lightbar, and game mode presets managed via Logitech’s G Hub app. Unique touches include adjustable feet doubling as keycap/switch pullers and built-in storage for included switches and SAPP rings. An optional transparent palm rest enhances RGB lighting by interacting with the lightbar, adding aesthetic flair.

At $180 (75%) or $200 (98%), the G512 X is premium-priced compared to Logitech’s G5 series. Notably, it lacks a wireless option, a gap in the market as rivals like Razer and Corsair dominate wireless customization. Despite this, its blend of mechanical/analog flexibility and hardware-level tweaks makes it a standout for gamers prioritizing tactile control.

While the G512 X pushes boundaries in keyboard tech, its niche appeal may limit mass adoption. For now, it’s a must-try for enthusiasts willing to invest in a keyboard that merges analog precision with mechanical reliability.
