At MWC 2026, Honor unveiled its highly anticipated Robot Phone, a smartphone with a unique pop-up camera gimbal that can nod, shake, and rotate 360 degrees. While the device isn't ready for launch yet, the company revealed key specifications following its Barcelona press event, with a release planned later this year.

Honor CEO James Li showcased what he claims is the industry's smallest micro motor, 70 percent smaller than existing models and tinier than a 1-euro coin. This miniaturization enables the Robot Phone's 4-degrees-of-freedom gimbal system to house a 200-megapixel primary camera with three-axis stabilization. The fold-away panel reveals additional traditional cameras, giving users flexibility in their shooting options.

The company also announced a collaboration with ARRI Image Science to bring cinematic imaging capabilities to the device, marking the first integration of ARRI's professional workflows into a consumer smartphone. While the mechanical complexity raises durability concerns, Honor appears confident in its engineering, drawing on lessons from its foldable phone development to create this ambitious camera system.
