Honda Prologue EV Sales End in US

Honda is officially ending sales of its only EV in the US, the Honda Prologue, at the conclusion of the 2026 model year. Announced in 2021 and launched in 2024, the electric SUV's short run marks a significant shift away from the US EV market for the automaker. The Prologue was a product of a collaboration with General Motors, utilizing their Ultium battery platform, but GM's subsequent pivot away from Ultium prompted Honda to re-evaluate its strategy.

Despite being the sixth-best-selling EV in the US in its first full year, the Prologue did not match the popularity of competitors like the Tesla Model Y. Honda has previously cancelled three other EV models in March, further signaling a reduced commitment to battery-electric vehicles in the American market. Customers will continue to receive support for their Prologue vehicles through Honda's dealer network.

While Honda continues to sell EVs in markets like Japan and China, its US zero-emission options will become extremely limited. The only remaining option will be the Honda CR-V e: FCEV, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle exclusively sold in California. This move comes as the EV market faces challenges, including the end of federal incentives, though rising gas prices have offered some stabilization.
