Hollow Knight fixes 9-year bug in final boss fight

Team Cherry has finally fixed a long-standing bug in the original Hollow Knight that plagued players for nearly a decade. The glitch affected The Radiance, one of the final bosses, whose homing light orbs would occasionally linger in the air after their attack animation finished. This unexpected behavior created additional hazards that frustrated players and led to countless unnecessary deaths.

According to the patch notes, developers corrected the orb attack hitbox so it no longer persists longer than intended when expiring mid-air. The timing of this fix remains unclear, though it may coincide with renewed interest in the original game driven by the success of the long-awaited sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. The small indie studio has been remarkably active, maintaining both titles with regular updates.

The latest patch also includes quality-of-life improvements like increased inventory navigation volume and additional journal notification icons. This follows Team Cherry's recent addition of traditional Chinese and German language options to Silksong after translation issues caused player backlash. The studio is simultaneously developing Sea of Sorrow, the game's first major DLC expansion, which will be free for all players.
