Ball x Pit, the indie bullet hell roguelite from Kenny Sun and Friends, is receiving its final free content update. The game exploded in popularity in 2025, hitting peak concurrent players of 35,000 on Steam and earning an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from over 23,000 reviews.

The Naturalist Update launches August 6 across PC, macOS, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles. Designer Kenny Sun explained on the PlayStation Blog that the team "couldn't stop making content," turning a pre-release idea pile into a series of free expansions.

Two new unlockable characters anchor the update. The Ballbearer doubles ball slots but removes passive items entirely, while the Hoary Hoarder carries only two ball slots yet doubles passive slots to leverage powerful item Evolutions.

Eleven new balls and five passive abilities round out the patch. Highlights include Lightning Bug's seeking fireflies, Mosquito Kingdom's health-stealing swarm, Drill's piercing damage, Flesh's accelerating speed, and Armageddon's meteor shower. New passives like Platinum Dumbbell, Inglorious Hammer, and Remote Detonator further expand build diversity for the roguelite's dedicated community.
