Google Wallet Now Works on Samsung Galaxy Watches for Contactless Payments

Samsung Galaxy Watch owners aren't locked into Samsung Pay anymore. Google Wallet now supports tap-to-pay transactions on compatible wearable devices, expanding payment options beyond Samsung's ecosystem. The feature works on Galaxy Watch 4 and newer models running Wear OS, though older Tizen-powered watches are left out.

To get started, users need to install Google Wallet on both their watch and paired Android phone. The setup requires creating a lock screen using either pattern or PIN authentication. After installation, payment cards can be added through the watch app while confirming details on the phone, with bank verification needed before cards become active.

Using the feature requires unlocking the Galaxy Watch and opening Google Wallet before holding it to payment readers. Successful transactions trigger vibration, sound, and a blue checkmark. For Japanese users, Suica and PASMO cards work on Galaxy Watch 6, 7, 8 and Ultra models purchased in Japan, which include FeliCa contactless technology support.

This integration matters because it gives Samsung watch users access to Google's payment infrastructure without switching ecosystems. The move strengthens Google's position in mobile payments while giving consumers more flexibility across their Samsung devices.
