Google is debuting Google Pics, an AI‑driven image editor that sits alongside fresh updates to Workspace apps like Docs and Drive. Built on the Nano Banana model, the tool offers object segmentation, letting users pull, resize or transform individual elements in any picture, whether the content is AI‑generated or not.

Among its novel tricks, Pics can edit text embedded in photos and translate it while preserving font style and size. The app plugs directly into Slides and Drive, positioning itself as a lightweight Canva alternative for quick posters and social media graphics. Users will also find generative brushes and fine‑grain adjustments that rival traditional desktop editors.

Google rolls out Pics today to a closed tester group, with a broader summer launch slated for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and a preview for Workspace business accounts. The same announcement expands AI Inbox to all US AI Plus and Pro users, adding draft replies and instant file access. Together, these moves give Google a tighter grip on creative and productivity workflows.

Early adopters will likely compare Pics to Photoshop and Canva, but its seamless Workspace integration could shift where professionals perform quick visual edits. By bundling AI tools across its ecosystem, Google aims to keep users from migrating to competing design suites in the long run.
