Google adds Live AI tools to Gmail, Docs and Keep

Google is expanding its conversational AI suite with a set of “Live” tools for Gmail, Docs and Keep. In Gmail, the new Gmail Live feature lets users pose natural‑language queries—like asking for a flight gate number—without hunting for keywords. The system scans inbox data to surface answers, echoing the Ask Gemini experience but tied to each app for everyday users on mobile and desktop.

Docs Live takes the concept further, allowing users to dictate an outline and letting the AI arrange sections, then, with permission, pull relevant snippets from Gmail and Drive to flesh out the document. It can also query the web for additional context. Keep’s Live mode similarly captures spoken reminders, categorizes them and generates prompts based on personal notes, and suggest formatting across devices.

The features will debut this summer for subscribers of Google’s AI Pro and Ultra plans, with a preview rollout to Google Workspace business accounts around the same time. By embedding conversational AI directly into core productivity apps, Google aims to reduce friction in information retrieval and drafting, giving power users a faster way to synthesize existing data and streamline collaboration across teams.
