Google Launches Gmail Live AI Voice Search in Beta

Google has begun rolling out Gmail Live, a new AI-powered voice search feature that lets users query their inbox through natural conversation with Gemini. The beta release follows Google's I/O announcement and targets Android and iOS users, with broader availability planned for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers this summer.

The feature integrates a Gemini Live-style interface directly into Gmail's search bar, allowing voice commands to find travel dates, orders, and other email content. Users activate it by tapping the Live icon, which launches a fullscreen mode with mic controls and a return button. Processing times for voice queries are currently slow, but the system represents Google's push to make AI assistants more accessible across productivity apps.

Initially exclusive to paid Google AI subscribers, Gmail Live joins similar voice features in Keep and upcoming Docs Live, which will convert spoken thoughts into structured documents. Google Workspace business customers can test these tools through preview programs. The beta rollout signals Google's broader strategy to embed conversational AI into daily workflows, starting with its most widely used apps.
