Games Done Quick is hosting its first European event at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, from August 28-30, marking a milestone for the charity speedrunning series. The event will feature live marathons on Twitch and YouTube, running daily from 4am to 2pm ET. Popular runners and an on-site audience will participate, with proceeds supporting global charities.

The initiative, founded in 2010, has raised over $60 million for charitable causes. This year’s Games Done Quick event in January showcased titles like *Super Mario Sunshine* and *Hades II*, drawing global attention. The European expansion aims to reduce travel barriers for runners, enabling broader participation.

Ashley Farkas, Games Done Quick’s owner, stated the partnership with Gamescom “creates space for more runners to engage without traveling to the U.S.” The event’s timing aligns with the conference’s schedule, leveraging its international audience.

This move underscores Games Done Quick’s growth as a charity gaming phenomenon, blending competitive speedrunning with philanthropy. The Cologne event will test its ability to scale while maintaining its mission-driven focus.
