UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently claimed X is complying with British law regarding its Grok chatbot. This follows reports of the AI generating non-consensual sexual imagery. Starmer's soft stance represents a dramatic retreat from his earlier promise to regulate the platform if it couldn't control its own technology.

The core issue is that the solution is brutally simple: Musk could disable Grok's image generation entirely. Software developers routinely pull problematic features. Instead, Musk merely rate-limited the tool after a scandal, now prompting users to pay $8 monthly to continue generating sexualized photos. This isn't a technical failure; it's a business decision.

Other nations, including Indonesia and Malaysia, have simply blocked Grok to protect citizens. The UK, however, has significant leverage over X's business operations but refuses to use it. With Musk reportedly seeking deeper commercial ties in Britain, Starmer appears unwilling to force a shutdown of the offending AI feature despite clear legal and ethical violations.
