DoorDash is investing in Rivian spinoff Also to accelerate its autonomous delivery ambitions. The companies announced a strategic partnership Tuesday to develop and deploy autonomous vehicles at scale, though specific micromobility models remain unspecified. Also, spun off from Rivian in 2025, focuses on pedal-assist vehicles that navigate both roads and bike lanes.

Also's current lineup includes the $3,500 TM-B e-bike with a virtual drivetrain and the TM-Q four-wheeled EV designed for cargo hauling. The TM-Q, which Amazon agreed to purchase in October for last-mile deliveries, features modular storage and fits in bike lanes despite its size. Also co-founder Chris Yu said the partnership will target "areas not yet fully solved for" at the intersection of roadways and bike lanes.

As part of the deal, DoorDash co-founder Stanley Tang joins Also's board as an observer. The partnership reportedly values Also above $1 billion, according to TechCrunch. This collaboration positions DoorDash to leverage Also's specialized micromobility technology as it competes in the rapidly evolving autonomous delivery market.
