After testing Apple's Audio Intelligence features, they feel like checked boxes rather than useful tools. Siri Recaps and Live Rewind, introduced in iOS 27.3 beta, are complex and controversial. Siri Recaps listens in specific locations or times, while Live Rewind captures the last 15 seconds of audio via Apple Watch.
Both require Apple Watch Ultra 4 or Series 12. Audio is not recorded or saved; the secure enclave analyzes and discards it immediately. Transcripts are saved briefly on a rolling buffer.
Despite privacy safeguards, users find the features awkward and invasive. Siri Recaps often misrepresents conversations, highlighting trivial details while missing key events. The technology feels more like spying than assistance, raising ethical concerns even among those who initially saw potential.
