DJI Mic Mini 2 Review: Colorful Budget Wireless Mic Shines

DJI’s Mic Mini 2 redefines affordability in wireless audio with its €89/£89 price tag and vibrant magnetic covers. This review reveals a compact upgrade to the original Mic Mini, offering 48KHz/24-bit audio and AI-powered noise cancellation. While not a revolutionary leap from its predecessor, the Mini 2 excels as a budget-friendly entry for creators needing reliable sound without breaking the bank.

The camera kit includes two mics, a receiver, and a charging case with 10 rainbow-colored magnetic covers inspired by 90s tech aesthetics. Though the prominent DJI logo may require taping over, optional pastel-patterned covers ($45) add customization. Battery life surpasses competitors like the Rode Wireless Go III (7 hours) with 11.5 hours per mic and 10.5 hours for the receiver, enabling full-day shoots.

Audio performance shines with three voice tone presets (“rich,” “regular,” “bright”) that minimize post-processing needs. While lacking the Mic 3’s 32-bit float recording, the Mini 2’s automatic gain control and noise reduction deliver clear results in tests. However, its high-noise cancellation setting introduces distortion, best reserved for emergencies. Wireless range hits 450 yards, though intermittent disconnections occurred at max distance.

Availability remains limited to Europe for now due to FCC certification delays in the US. Compared to rivals like the Hollyland Lark M2 (10-hour battery but no dual-device support), the Mini 2 balances portability, price, and versatility. For first-time buyers prioritizing sound quality over cutting-edge features, this mic stands out — but existing Mic Mini owners should wait for the flagship Mic 3 if budget allows.
