At CES 2026, a surge of companies showcased Electroencephalogram (EEG) technology, signaling a shift toward brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and neurofeedback in consumer electronics. Neurable led the announcements, partnering with HyperX to develop EEG headsets for gamers, utilizing algorithms originally designed for Singapore’s Air Force to improve focus and reaction times. The startup also offers integration with Master & Dynamic headphones to combat burnout. Other innovators include MyWaves, which uses EEG data to create personalized soundscapes for sleep, and Brain-Life, developing headbands for cognitive load monitoring. NAOX, a French startup, aims to miniaturize clinical-grade EEGs into true wireless earbuds for long-term health tracking.

While experts like Professor Karl Friston of University College London validate the utility of real-time brain monitoring, he cautions that these devices are supportive tools, akin to thermometers, rather than diagnostic replacements. The industry is moving to visualize cognitive stress, but the gap between wellness hype and clinical reality remains a critical challenge for manufacturers and consumers alike.
