Apple's iOS 26.6 beta adds a new alert for users who hit the blocked‑contact ceiling. The message, titled Blocked Contacts Limit Reached, reads: “You’ve reached the maximum number of blocked contacts. To block additional callers, remove a blocked contact in Settings.” This tweak clarifies a rule that has long been undocumented. The update will be available to testers soon today.

Users on social media report reaching the cap after blocking as few as 8,000 numbers, while others hit the 20,000 mark. Apple offers no official limit documentation, but the new prompt tells users to delete older entries via Settings > Apps > Phone > Blocked Contacts. Swiping left on each item removes one at a time. This process can become tedious for heavy‑blocking users daily tasks.

Beyond blocking, iOS 26 already supplies an Ask Reason for Calling feature that routes unknown callers to voicemail, letting users decide whether to answer. Combined with a dedicated Unknown Callers list, the system gives spammers fewer avenues. The new limit alert tightens the experience, ensuring users know when they must clean up to keep phone security intact for everyday use.
