Meta's head of product Naomi Gleit announced new subscription tiers rolling out globally for the company's core apps. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus comes in at $2.99 monthly. These plans aim to give users richer ways to express and connect, featuring animated 'Super Heart' reactions for Stories and tools like weekly story spotlighting.

The Plus subscriptions introduce features such as extending Stories beyond 24 hours and previewing content without registering as a viewer. Meanwhile, Meta teased upcoming Meta One subscription tests that target different user segments. Meta AI users will test Meta One Plus at $7.99/month and Meta One Premium at $19.99/month, which includes AI-powered image generation and 'thinking mode' capabilities.

Two additional Meta One tiers will launch in overseas markets: Essential at $14.99/month and Advanced at $49.99/month. The Advanced plan adds enhanced search visibility and prominent profile buttons. Meta emphasized these new subscriptions won't replace Meta Verified, which protects creator identities on its platforms.

This subscription push follows Meta's recent 8,000 employee layoffs announced last week. Despite CEO Mark Zuckerberg's promise of no additional layoffs this year, the aggressive monetization strategy signals Meta's intensified focus on AI and creator economy revenue streams.
