iOS 26.3 Simplifies iPhone to Android Data Transfer

Apple has released iOS 26.3 to the public, introducing a streamlined method for transferring data from iPhone to Android devices. The update follows a brief beta testing period, with testers using the single build throughout the holiday season. While iOS 26.2 delivered numerous new features, this incremental update focuses primarily on improving cross-platform compatibility.

A new Transfer to Android option in Settings allows users to place their iPhone next to a target Android device and initiate data migration. The process supports transferring apps, photos, messages, and even the phone number itself. However, health data, Bluetooth-paired devices, and protected items remain excluded from the transfer. This enhancement comes as part of an agreement between Google and Apple to make switching platforms easier for consumers.

Beyond the Android transfer feature, iOS 26.3 includes notification forwarding for third-party wearables, available exclusively in the EU, and limited precise location obfuscation for iPhones with C1 and C1X modems. The location feature, while beneficial for privacy, currently supports only a few carriers. Users can update to iOS 26.3 manually through Settings or rely on automatic updates if enabled. This release demonstrates Apple's continued focus on interoperability and privacy enhancements in its mobile operating system.
