Geekbench 7 Adds AI, Better Reflects Modern Use

Primate Labs has released Geekbench 7, a cross-platform benchmark available for macOS, iOS, Android, Windows, and Linux. This update redesigns the benchmark to better reflect how current software utilizes CPUs and GPUs, incorporating new workloads for artificial intelligence, media processing, gaming, and content creation.

The revisions address increasingly demanding computing tasks and larger data sets handled by modern devices. Notably, Geekbench 7 alters its multi-core methodology, only running workloads in multithreaded mode when the task is similarly multithreaded in real software. This aims to provide a more accurate representation of processor performance in everyday applications.

New GPU workloads focus on machine learning, video, and content creation, including tasks like face tracking, image upscaling, and background blurring. The benchmark also expands its data set sizes and variety to better simulate the demands of current phones, tablets, and computers. Geekbench 7 scores are not directly comparable to Geekbench 6 results due to these significant changes. The benchmark remains free for personal use, with a Pro version available for commercial applications.
