Apple's F1 Deal Expands Beyond Streaming

Apple's upcoming U.S. Formula 1 broadcast deal, starting in 2026, will be a company-wide effort rather than a siloed streaming service. Jim DeLorenzo, Apple's global head of sports, stated at the Autosport Business Exchange that the partnership will involve the entire company to grow with F1, teams, and drivers.

Apple is already integrating its hardware into motorsport coverage. Recent Red Bull F1 launch events featured iPhone-shot footage and visible use of Apple Vision Pro during technical presentations. This follows Apple's experiment using iPhones as live cameras during MLB games, suggesting a template for improving the viewer experience with production tools.

The deal makes Apple the exclusive U.S. broadcaster, ending ESPN's long-running role. Apple is positioning F1 as a long-term platform for integrating hardware, production, and services, not just live streams. Early preparation is underway, with more broadcast specifics expected as the 2026 season approaches.
