Apple will include Google Cast support in iOS 27, complying with EU regulations that require alternatives to AirPlay. Sources told Mark Gurman that users will be able to set either framework as the default for content streaming between devices, though availability outside the EU remains unclear.

The change stems from the EU's Digital Markets Act, which Apple views as problematic due to regulatory ambiguity. The company has previously blocked certain features in Europe, including macOS Tahoe's Live Activities and iPhone mirroring, while resisting compliance on security grounds.

This streaming feature represents one of several adjustments Apple is making to appease EU demands. Additional changes include third-party app storefronts and sideloading capabilities, marking a significant shift in Apple's traditionally closed ecosystem approach under regulatory pressure.
