Abxylute M4: Pocket‑sized controller that struggles with cramped layout

Abxylute unveiled the M4, a 2‑inch‑plus controller that snaps to the back of an iPhone with a magnetic ring. The design promises pocketability and a full Game‑Cube‑style button set, yet the compact footprint strains usability. When first held, the cramped layout already feels awkward and forces a quick grip that cramp fingers after a few turns.

The M4 measures 2 3/4 in. by 3 in., fitting neatly on the phone’s rear. A 300 mAh battery delivers roughly 12 hours of play, and the controller charges via USB‑C. Its MagSafe attachment keeps the phone upright when not in use, while the included kickstand lets it stand on a table.

However, the tiny form forces awkward button placement. LZ and RZ sit side‑by‑side on the back, making trigger use clumsy, especially in shooters. Joysticks feel stiff, and the close spacing pushes fingers into a cramped grip that can cause cramps after short sessions.

Despite its charm, the M4 struggles with comfort and precision. It shines for retro or D‑pad‑heavy titles like Minecraft or Digimon World 3, but serious gamers will find the cramped layout a barrier. At $49, it offers a low‑cost option for casual play, not a replacement for larger controllers.
