iPhone 18 Rumors: Spring 2027 Launch, Smaller Dynamic Island

Rumors suggest the base model iPhone 18 could launch in spring 2027, deviating from Apple's typical September release. This later debut, possibly to "extend the market buzz of the previous generation," may see the standard iPhone 18 sharing hardware closer to an 'e' model.

Design-wise, the iPhone 18 is expected to retain a similar 6.3-inch display size to the iPhone 17. One rumor indicates a potential change to a smaller Dynamic Island, though other reports suggest the bezel design will remain identical to the iPhone 17 series. Unlike the Pro models, the base iPhone 18 is not expected to feature a redesigned Dynamic Island or under-screen Face ID until possibly the iPhone 19.

Camera hardware may see a shift, with one report suggesting Samsung image sensors could replace Apple's usual supplier, Sony, to potentially reduce production costs. There are also conflicting rumors about a simplified or removed "Camera Control" button on the side of the device, similar to prototype testing seen with the iPhone 16.

Internally, the iPhone 18 is rumored to feature the 2nm A20 chip and could come with either 9GB or 12GB of RAM, indicating performance upgrades over its predecessor. Specific details on camera upgrades for the base model remain scarce.
