OhSnap Mcon Review: Finally a Pocketable iPhone Gaming Controller

The OhSnap Mcon tackles a problem mobile gamers have long faced: finding a controller that actually fits in your pocket without sacrificing too much capability. This MagSafe-compatible controller attaches to your iPhone magnetically and folds open to reveal a surprisingly full-featured gaming setup with dual joysticks, triggers, and face buttons. It's roughly the size of an iPhone when folded, making it genuinely portable in a way that rivals like the Razer Kishi Ultra and DualSense simply aren't.

The design cleverly combines PlayStation and Xbox conventions—dual center-justified joysticks sit alongside XYAB buttons, while a metal arm doubles as both a phone stand in "kickback mode" and structural support when folding. Pressing the silver button near your fingers triggers a satisfying spring-loaded mechanism that angles your phone upward for comfortable gameplay. The joysticks use OhSnap's "MagRes" technology, which the company claims outperforms traditional Hall-effect sensors with minimal dead zones and no drift. Premium metal construction gives it a solid feel despite the compact footprint.

At $144, the Mcon isn't cheap, and the smaller buttons won't satisfy those prioritizing comfort over portability. However, the reviewer awarded it 4.5 out of 5 stars, concluding you can find more comfortable controllers but won't easily find one this portable that performs this well.
