YouTube adds zero‑minute Shorts limit to curb endless scrolling

YouTube has finally given users a way to curb the ever‑present Shorts feed. By navigating to Settings → Time management, the app now offers a zero‑minute daily limit for Shorts, effectively blocking the dedicated Shorts tab once the cap is hit. The change arrives after user complaints that Shorts dominate the algorithm.

Originally promised as a 15‑minute to two‑hour slider, the new zero setting adds the ability to completely disable Shorts for anyone who prefers a cleaner home feed. While the tab becomes inaccessible, Shorts still surface in subscription lists and can be opened via direct links, meaning the restriction is limited to the main homepage view. Creators dependent on Shorts may see less organic reach.

For heavy scrollers, the added friction may be enough to break the habit without a full kill switch. Parents can now enforce a hard stop, and regular users gain granular control over how much short‑form video they consume. It sits in the profile menu for toggling.
