Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs Fold 8 Ultra vs Motorola Razr: 1000 photo test

I took 1,000 photos with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra, comparing them to my two favorite foldables: the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 and Razr Fold. The results may surprise you.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra packs a 200MP primary sensor and a third telephoto camera, while the Fold 8 sticks to dual 50MP cameras. The Ultra delivers noticeably more detail, punchier colors, and cleaner zoom shots, though it can oversaturate reds. The base Fold 8 leans softer and more muted, but its ultrawide actually outperforms the Ultra's.

Against the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026, the Fold 8 trades blows. The Razr captures truer colors and handles tricky lighting better, but the Fold 8 takes better selfies. Zoom is a wash beyond 2x. Surprisingly, the Motorola Razr Fold holds its own against the Fold 8 Ultra in low light and even at 30x zoom, where its AI produces cleaner text and sharper details. The Fold 8 Ultra wins on vibrant skies and moving subjects, but the Razr Fold's low-light performance is impressive.
