Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, a largely incremental update to last year’s Z Fold 7. Google’s Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, released a year earlier, already pulls ahead in several key areas.

The Ultra keeps the same pill‑shaped triple‑camera module and clean back, but adds a new 50MP ultra‑wide sensor and a silicon‑carbon 5,000mAh battery. It prices at $2,100 in the U.S., $100 more than last year’s model. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold starts at $1,799 for 256GB, undercutting the Ultra by $300 and offers an IP68 rating, whereas the Ultra only has IP48.

Under the hood the Ultra runs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the top Android chipset, while the Pixel runs Google’s new Tensor G5. The Ultra’s 45W wired charging is faster than the Pixel’s 30W, but the Pixel supports Qi2 magnetic charging via Pixel Snap, a convenience the Ultra lacks.

Both phones sport 8‑inch inner LTPO AMOLED displays, 120Hz refresh, and 3,000‑nit peak brightness. Camera specs favor the Ultra invoicing a 200MP wide and 50MP ultra‑wide, but the Pixel’s 48MP primary and 5x zoom telephoto make it a strong contender. In short, the Ultra offers raw power and a slimmer crease, while the Pixel wins on price, durability, and software polish.
