Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Battery, Price, and Durability Compared

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is shaping up to be an incremental upgrade over its predecessor, with leaks pointing to a 5,000mAh battery and 45W charging as the headline improvements. The foldable is expected to retain a similar design to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, including the IP48 rating that falls short of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold's IP68 certification. While Samsung may finally address the crease issue with a less visible fold, the overall form factor appears largely unchanged.

In contrast, Google's Pixel 10 Pro Fold brings meaningful refinements including a redesigned hinge, slimmer bezels, and Qi2 wireless charging support. The device runs on Google's Tensor G5 chip, offering clean software with seven years of updates. However, it charges slower at 30W wired and remains thicker and heavier than Samsung's offering. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold starts at $1,799, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumored to begin around $1,999, though price increases are possible given rising component costs.

Both devices feature similar display sizes with peak brightness reaching 3,000 nits, but Samsung is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, which should outperform Google's in-house silicon. With Samsung's Unpacked event rumored for July 22 in London, consumers will soon see whether these incremental upgrades are enough to compete with Google's more refined approach to foldables.
