Spotify announced on July 15 that Managed Accounts are now free for all parents globally, removing the Premium subscription requirement. Parents can create accounts for children under 13 in the U.S., UK, Australia, France, Germany, and Netherlands, with Canada, New Zealand, and more European countries rolling out soon.

The music-only experience keeps profiles private and non-discoverable, with parental controls to filter explicit content and manage specific artists or songs. Kids gain access to personalized playlists like Discover Weekly, Daylist, and Made for You, plus their own Spotify Wrapped. Videos and Canvas are disabled, and social features like messaging and custom profile pictures are unavailable.

Setup is simple via the side menu > Add Account > Create a Managed Account. Free-tier accounts will include ads with helpful app tips. Spotify positions this as a safer, dedicated way for children to explore music without using a parent's account.
