Samsung's Galaxy Ad Blocker Arrives in One UI 8.5 Update

Samsung is finally rolling out its long-rumored ad-blocking feature for Galaxy devices. The company's Device Care update (v13.8.80.7) brings a tool that can block apps sending "excessive" advertisement alerts. This feature was first spotted during One UI 8.5 testing back in December and is now available alongside the major OS update in the U.S.

The feature offers two blocking modes. Basic blocking automatically identifies apps that frequently push ads and silences them. The more advanced intelligent blocking option analyzes your notifications to determine whether they're ads before putting them in deep sleep. Samsung acknowledges the system could make mistakes, so users maintain control over which apps get blocked.

This addresses a widespread frustration— users no longer need to manually adjust notification settings for each app. The intelligent blocking appears to work across all installed applications, potentially eliminating the tedious process of individually managing permissions. It's a practical solution for users overwhelmed by intrusive advertising.
