Google Meet rolls out to Android Auto for hands‑free calls

Google has begun rolling out Google Meet integration for Android Auto, letting drivers join conference calls from the car dashboard. The update adds Scheduled and History tabs inside the Android Auto app, so users can see upcoming meetings and replay past calls. The UI strips away visual clutter, presenting only essential call controls for safe operation, with mute, end‑call and Bluetooth output options.

Earlier this year Google teased the feature, but most users only saw a placeholder. 9to5Google reports that the rollout now pushes notifications for scheduled meetings, and a one‑time restart of the Meet app on the phone may be required before the first call works. The feature respects Do Not Disturb, pausing alerts until the driver resumes the call.

The addition gives commuters a hands‑free way to stay in sync with remote teams, eliminating the need to balance a phone on the console. While video sharing remains unavailable, the streamlined interface aligns with safety guidelines for in‑car communication. Drivers can now join, mute, or leave meetings without taking eyes off the road.
