Google Home March Update: Expanded Yale Lock Support

Google is rolling out a significant March update to its Home ecosystem, adding new automation starters and conditions for security features. The update expands Nest x Yale Smart Lock support, allowing users to view lock history, receive notifications, and check battery status directly through the Google Home app. These features are exiting the testing stage and heading to devices in a gradual rollout.

Gemini for Home voice assistance is also receiving substantial improvements during its early access period. The AI now intelligently targets specific devices when given room-level commands - saying 'turn off the kitchen' will affect only lights rather than every smart plug. Google is also rolling out updates to improve Gemini's accuracy for commands related to notes, reminders, calendars, and alarms.

The patch notes detail additional enhancements including upgraded answers using recent Gemini models, reduced instances of users being cut off while speaking, and improved reliability for triggering user-created automations. For Google Home Premium subscribers, a new 'Live Search' feature allows users to check their camera streams in real-time rather than being limited to past events.
