After three weeks using the Galaxy S26 Ultra as my daily driver, I found Samsung's latest flagship delivers mixed results. While the phone introduces some interesting features like Privacy Display, it falls short in critical areas like camera quality and battery life compared to Chinese competitors like the Vivo X300 Pro and OPPO Find X9 Pro.

The standout feature is Privacy Display, which uses Flex Magic Pixel technology to limit screen visibility from side angles. This hardware-based solution works effectively to prevent shoulder surfing, though it does reduce overall brightness. The rounded design improves ergonomics, but the protruding camera island causes annoying wobble when used on flat surfaces. The AMOLED panel misses key features like high-frequency PWM dimming and Dolby Vision support, lagging behind rivals in brightness capabilities.

Camera performance remains a significant weakness, with the S26 Ultra trailing behind not just current Chinese flagships but also last year's models from competitors. Battery life is another disappointment, offering the same 5,000mAh capacity as the 2020 S20 Ultra while rivals push silicon-carbon technology for better endurance. While Galaxy AI features are impressive and One UI 8.5 software remains polished, these strengths can't overcome the fundamental shortcomings in core smartphone functions that matter most to users.
