Google's new Pixel 11 feature lets Gemini call local businesses for routine tasks like checking inventory, booking appointments, or changing reservations. The feature builds on Google's existing Hold for Me and Direct My Call tools, but now Gemini handles the entire call from start to finish. Users can monitor the conversation via a live transcript and take over at any moment. The calls are placed from your own phone number using an AI-generated voice.

The preview begins September 24 for Gemini paid subscribers enrolled in the Phone by Google Public Beta, limited to Pixel 11 phones in the U.S. Google is limiting the initial rollout to work through real-world conversation nuances. Businesses will interact with the AI on calls from real customers.
