Google's Gemini Intelligence will arrive on Android devices this summer, bringing AI-driven task automations to Pixel and Galaxy S26 series phones. The update, showcased at the Android Show, will handle tasks like booking a bike for spin class or adding books to a cart based on user requests. Visual context integration allows Gemini to activate over apps like Notes to create grocery lists or analyze photos of banners, eliminating app-switching. Autofill will connect to apps for complex forms, and Gboard’s Rambler feature will filter unnecessary speech into text, supporting multilingual input like Spanglish.

Gemini Intelligence will roll out in waves to Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10, prioritizing user control with opt-in features. Tasks require explicit user commands, and purchases made on behalf of users need confirmation. Security measures include the Private Compute Core and AI Compute, with transparency via AI assistant logs and Live Notifications. The update marks Google’s shift from a static OS to an “intelligence system,” emphasizing user safety by letting users turn off Gemini at any time. Android users will gain enhanced automation, visual context tasking, and smarter autofill, positioning Gemini as a helpful AI companion on Android devices.
