Opera just released the One R3 update, refining its flagship browser with smarter tab management and multimedia flair. The release introduces color-coded Tab Islands, letting users assign nine distinct colors and custom names to automated tab groups. This visual organization aims to simplify juggling multiple projects or browsing sessions simultaneously.

Beyond the visual upgrades, R3 integrates the agentic AI engine from Opera Neon, promising a 20% boost in performance for AI tasks. Crucially, the assistant now respects tab contexts, preventing it from mixing up information between different islands. It can also analyze YouTube videos directly, answering user questions about the content.

Opera One R3 also debuts three dynamic themes—Radiance, Orbit, and Sonic. The latter is a Spotify partnership that reacts to the browser's in-built music player. Additionally, Google Calendar and Gmail are now pinned to the sidebar, while an 'early bird' mode folds experimental features like split-screen into the main release.
