OpenAI rolled out a long‑press shortcut in the mobile ChatGPT app that lets users pick an intelligence level before sending a prompt. Pressing the send arrow reveals options such as Instant, Thinking, and Extended, letting subscribers choose how much processing power the model applies. The gesture replaces menu taps and aligns with OpenAI’s push toward automatic model selection.

A new table‑of‑contents overlay appears in the web version once a conversation reaches five replies. Hovering over a thin line on the right expands a list of recent topics, letting users jump instantly to any point in a lengthy thread. The feature streamlines navigation for multi‑step queries that have grown into mini‑essays.

OpenAI also tweaked the default GPT-5.5 Instant model, which debuted on May 5, to produce clearer, less emoji‑heavy responses. The update claims smoother pacing and a more natural tone for everyday queries. These tweaks tighten the user experience across mobile and web, making ChatGPT feel faster and more controllable.
