Notability today announced a new desktop workflow for Mac and Windows that lets users start recording sessions directly from calendar events, automatically organizing recordings, transcripts, and notes around their schedule. Students and professionals connect their calendar, and tapping a meeting starts recording while opening the note for input. At the end, Notability combines the transcript and typed notes into one comprehensive document tied to the event.

Unlike other solutions requiring a bot to join calls, Notability captures system audio directly from the computer. Every new note defaults to recording with no extra step, and calendar connect turns each event into a tappable row to start recording. Coming soon, syllabus import will auto-structure an entire term into lectures, study sessions, and exams.

A free tier lets new users try features before a paywall. The feature is available to Plus ($5.99/mo or $15.99/yr) and Pro ($15.99/mo or $79.99/yr) subscribers. Pro users get unlimited live audio transcription, while Plus subscribers face an unspecified usage limit.
