Apple is preparing a major Siri overhaul for iOS 27, with reports from Mark Gurman detailing a new system-wide search gesture that lets users swipe down from the top center of the screen to trigger a "Search or Ask" bar in the Dynamic Island. The revamped Siri will be powered by Google Gemini and function as an always-on agent capable of tapping into personal data and taking action across apps.

Beyond the gesture, users can press the search bar to toggle between Siri, ChatGPT, or Gemini as their default search engine. A new "+" button enables uploading images and documents into Siri, while swiping down on a results card transitions into a chatbot conversation mode featuring inline mini-app cards for weather, appointments, and notes.

Camera app upgrades and broader Liquid Glass improvements are also coming alongside the Siri changes. These updates represent Apple's most ambitious push yet to transform Siri from a basic voice assistant into a genuinely agentic tool that can handle complex, multi-step tasks across the system.
