Apple has released the fourth developer beta for iOS 18, continuing its summer testing cycle ahead of a public launch this fall. iOS 18 is heavily focused on AI, with a significant overhaul of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence and new Apple Foundation Models. The new Siri promises richer conversations, better context, expanded knowledge, on-screen awareness, and deeper app integrations.

Siri AI in iOS 18 will feature a new visual experience integrated with the Dynamic Island and a dedicated Siri app. Visual Intelligence is also being introduced, with a new mode in the Camera app. Apple Intelligence features will extend to Photos, Safari, Mail, and more, with some processing done on-device and some via Private Cloud Compute. While iOS 18 supports iPhone 11 and later, advanced Siri AI capabilities require newer hardware, including iPhone 17 Pro.

Beyond AI, iOS 18 includes refinements to the Liquid Glass design, performance enhancements for app launches and transfers, and various other changes. These include new features for Photos, Messages, FaceTime, AirPods, and Apple Pay. The public beta of iOS 18 began on July 13, with today's beta likely becoming public beta 2 next week.
