Instagram adds native grid reordering for profiles

Instagram has begun rolling out a long‑awaited tool that lets users rearrange the order of posts on their public profile grid. After a March update that added drag‑and‑drop reordering within carousel posts, the platform now offers a “Reorder grid” option directly on the profile page. Tap any thumbnail, select the command, and a drag interface appears, directly, without leaving the app.

The new workflow opens a modal where users can freely pull images into any sequence, then exit via the back‑chevron to commit changes. Because the adjustment rewrites the live grid, creators can curate a more intentional visual narrative without republishing content. Instagram’s Threads account notes the feature is “available starting this week”, implying a gradual rollout for all account types.

Early adopters who have long demanded grid control now have a native solution, reducing reliance on third‑party apps that previously offered limited reordering hacks. By integrating the capability into the core app, Instagram strengthens its appeal to brands and influencers who treat their feed as a marketing asset. The update arrives as visual curation remains a core user metric.
