This privacy tool prevents advertisers from harvesting real email addresses and gives users granular control over inbox communications. Despite its utility, the feature remains underutilized due to accessibility limitations.

The core issue is discoverability. Hide My Email stays buried in Settings, requiring keyboard integration that only works in Safari and select apps. Unlike iCloud Keychain which finally received its own app in iOS 18, Hide My Email lacks prominent placement. Making it accessible through the Passwords app or as a standalone utility would dramatically improve adoption.

Cross-platform compatibility presents another opportunity. While Apple's iCloud Passwords extension works well on Chrome with passkey support, it cannot generate new Hide My Email addresses. Extending this functionality to Chromium browsers would benefit paying subscribers. Additionally, custom domain support would elevate the feature beyond generic @icloud.com addresses, allowing users to maintain their brand identity while preserving privacy controls.

These enhancements would transform Hide My Email from a hidden gem into a mainstream privacy solution, aligning with Apple's broader ecosystem strategy while providing tangible value to iCloud+ subscribers.
