Apple TV will broadcast the LA Galaxy versus Houston Dynamo FC MLS match on Saturday, May 23 entirely on iPhone 17 Pro, marking the first time a major professional live sporting event has been captured using only Apple's smartphone. Cameras positioned throughout the venue will shoot warmups, player introductions, in-net angles, and stadium atmosphere.

Apple began testing iPhone 17 Pro for live sports last fall. The first experiment came on September 26 with a Friday Night Baseball game between the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. That trial gave Apple confidence to scale up for a full professional broadcast.

The iPhone 17 Pro delivers the video quality Apple expects while unlocking camera positions impossible with bulky traditional gear. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT on May 23 and streams free for Apple TV subscribers at no extra cost.
