Apple acquires Kuzu database firm in latest EU-reported deal

Apple has quietly acquired Kuzu, an embedded graph database company, marking another addition to its growing list of EU-reported acquisitions. The deal, first spotted by AppleInsider, occurred in October and was significant enough to trigger disclosure requirements under the Digital Markets Act.

Kuzu specialized in query speed, scalability, and ease of use for embedded database solutions. The acquisition follows Apple's blockbuster $2 billion purchase of AI startup Q.ai earlier this month. Like many Apple acquisitions, Kuzu has scrubbed most of its online presence. The company joins a string of recent Apple purchases including Styra, IC Mask Design, and Pixelmator.

The European Union's acquisition tracking page reveals Apple made six qualifying acquisitions in 2025 alone, with Kuzu being the most recent. These deals span various technologies from authorization software to digital avatar technology. While the exact purchase price for Kuzu remains undisclosed, the deal's inclusion on the EU list suggests it exceeded the threshold for gatekeeper reporting requirements.
