Apple has issued a rare fifth release candidate for macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, alongside developer beta 5 for iOS 26.6, macOS 26.6, and iPadOS 26.6. The new RC builds carry version numbers 23J615 for Sonoma and 24G817 for Sequoia.

Apple has not disclosed specific changes beyond standard release notes citing "important security fixes and is recommended for all users." The updates follow the recent early release of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26.5.2, which Apple pushed ahead of schedule due to risks from new AI-powered tools.

Some of the security fixes originally planned for version 26.6 may be included in these release candidates. Developers can install the latest builds through the Software Update mechanism in System Settings.
